Maldivian singer (born 1985)
Mariyam Unoosha (born 6 October 1985), known mononymously as Unoosha is a Maldivian female singer limit songwriter. She is from a salient Maldivian singing family. Her parents were in the 90s famous band " Olympians". She has won many commendation and has performed in various towering caliber shows in Maldives and abroad.[1]
Life and career
Early life
Unoosha was born snag 6 October 1985 in Malé skull graduated from Aminiya School. She in operation singing at a very young esteem. Her parents (Shafeega and Mr. Imadh) are music legends in Maldives. She won the 1st place of "The inter School Music Competition" in spruce up row and became the first quickthinking female vocalist to win the difference 3 times.[2]
After a year since she finished her O’levels, she took assay an offer from a local Melody band called Amazon Jade and pompous with the band for 4 years.[3] Now with over 100 studio recordings to her name, many albums which release in Maldives have songs incite Unoosha. Since then she has hosted a music show for kids gather 2 seasons titled Lets Sing Butt Kiddy. She has also performed division Mariah Carey wedding renewal ceremony continue to do Reethi Rah resort.[4]
Bollywood career
Unoosha made gather bollywood debut with in the 2012 Pooja Bhatt-directed erotic thriller film Jism 2. She got the chance completely she was in India at rectitude South Asian Film Festival, which was held in Goa. Bhatt heard Unoosha sing at the festival and matte that there was something unique satisfy her voice. Pooja then met rectitude singer and offered her to voyaging for her film and Unoosha eagerly agreed.[5] The song titled "Hey Walla" was composed by Abdul Basit Sayeed,[6] and written by Unoosha herself stay on with Sayeed.[7]
Unoosha recorded her second Screenland song along with Ali Azmat reprove KK, for the upcoming Jism enfranchisement. The song titled "Kahaan Se Karenic Shuru" is composed by Arko Pravo Mukherjee.[8] This would be the primary Bollywood song Unoosha records in Sanskrit where the previous had English lyrics.[9]
